I’m here to tell you that you can.

Freelance homework help is a legitimate job choice, and one that offers a lot of flexibility in when you work and how much you make.

It’s a little different than online tutoring simply because you’re focusing your energy more on explaining a specific problem and how to work it out instead of teaching a student or a class the content in a subject.

Paid homework help is, therefore, a bit more flexible because the questions don’t take as long as a 30-minute or hour-long class would to answer.

Although these sites may not pay all your bills, they could help you supplement your regular income by giving you a few more hours of easy work each week.

Doing Assignments Online as a Homework Helper for Cash: Is It Morally Okay?

I want to clear one thing up about these gigs because I know they get a bad reputation and I don’t necessarily think it’s fair.

These sites let you help people do their homework.

They don’t allow you to completely do the homework assignment for the students you’re helping (unless you want to, of course, but that’s not in your job description).

Yes, there are sites that are specifically for undermining the education system that allow students to pay “tutors” to do their work for them or write full papers in their name.

However, those aren’t sites I’m willing to recommend.

Those are the sites that most people would consider to be morally unjust, and I’d agree.

The sites I’m mentioning below are not those sites.

Instead, they’re sites that connect tutors like yourself to students who want help with their homework.

It’s your job to explain things in a way that gets the student thinking about the question or assignment rather than taking over and doing it for them.

In doing so, you’re expanding their knowledge and thinking to help them become more self-sufficient with their homework.

That’s not to say that you won’t find students trying to cheat the system on any of these sites, because I’m sure you will.

There will always be the few who are looking for the easy way out.

But the beauty of these sites is that you can work on your own terms and you don’t have to accept work from any students who aren’t there for the right reasons.

In other words, you stick to your morals and continue working with students who are serious about their education but just need a little guidance with their homework to make sure they’re on the right path.

Is AceMyHomework Legit?

AceMyHomework is a site that’s specifically designed to connect students with people who can write their papers for them.

So, if you’re into this sort of thing, then yes, it’s legit.

But if you like to steer clear of anything that could be considered academic fraud to a college, university, or even a middle or high school, then I suggest skipping this one.

When you go to the “tutor” area of the site, it makes it sound like you’ll be helping students answer their assignment questions.

But if you spend some time on the site, you’ll see that it’s clearly about academic writing with “quality papers” from “skilled professors” which means that you’ll be writing the student’s full assignment or paper.

Where to Find Homework Help Jobs

Tutor.com

If you’re a United States citizen and eligible to work in the United States, you can become a Tutor.com tutor.

You do need to either have teaching credentials, currently be enrolled in a relevant subject in college, or have graduated with a degree in the subject you want to teach to be eligible.

This platform does require you to have a webcam, as you’ll be tutoring students via video.

Some of the subjects available include Computer Science, Finance, and Essay Writing, and your students can be as young as kindergarten age.

Because the service is available during all hours every day, you can tutor whenever you have time available.

That means that you can sign in when you want to and pick up open sessions, but you can also set a schedule for yourself each week to book appointments.

To help students with homework, though, it may be best to leave your schedule open and sign in during after-school hours to catch those students who need your help.

The pay from Tutor.com depends on the subject area(s) in which you teach, but you can learn more about the payment structure and process after you apply and begin the onboarding process.

Studypool

Studypool is known as a microtutoring site.

You’ll respond to student questions about their homework or writing assignments, but only to offer help, not do the assignments for them.

Once a student posts a question, tutors who are eligible to help with that subject area can bid to answer.

The student selects the tutor he or she wants to work with.

If you’re chosen, you answer the question and send it along to the student, who can then approve the answer and release your payment.

Math, history, and accounting are a few of the popular subject areas here.

Although Studypool says that you can earn up to $7500 from tutoring students online using the platform, I believe a more accurate estimation would be about $100 to $500, depending on how often you sign in.

Still, that’s perfect for a side gig.

GeeklyLab

GeeklyLab pays tutors up to $20 per hour to help students with their homework questions.

The students you help can also rate you according to your responses, which can get you to Top-Rated status and open you up to more opportunities.

The site always has online applications for tutors open, but it won’t always be in need of new talent.

However, it stores your information to be able to contact you when a need for more tutors opens.

Chegg

If you’re looking for more sites like Tutor.com, Chegg is probably it.

It’s one of the most popular sites, in fact, for online tutoring because of its flexible scheduling that allows you to sign on whenever you want, 24/7, to pick up some extra work.

When a student posts a question on the site, Chegg automatically matches them with a tutor that’s available in their needed subject area.

If that’s you, you’ll help the student in a live lesson, either through text, video, or even a virtual whiteboard.

As you build your reputation on Chegg by answering questions and getting good ratings, you could end up with even more tutoring opportunities.

Chegg pays you every week, and you get to set the hourly rate at which you work.

You can even get payment bonuses for tutoring in high-demand areas in which students post questions more frequently.

OneClass

OneClass is an online solution to academic help for students.

The company provides homework help, study guides, and even note-taking services to students who are overwhelmed or who need a little extra assistance to pull their grades up.

You can provide these services by signing up as a tutor or note taker.

As a tutor, you can earn $20 an hour offering extra math help to students through the Solvit platform.

As a note-taker, you can get $470 per class you sit in on and take notes for students!

Note takers go through a performance trial period to make sure they have what it takes to write quality notes for students.

There’s also a Student Mentor position if you’re looking for something a little different.

It lets you mentor students at universities through the online platform by answering their questions about classes, campus resources, and more.

EduBoard

Online tutors can use EduBoard to provide quick answers to students or give one-on-one tutoring sessions that are more in-depth.

EduBoard looks for experts in writing, calculus, algebra, science, and several other key subject areas.

You are able to sign on as often or as little as you’d like, making your schedule as flexible as you need it to be.

Although the specific pricing for your work isn’t mentioned on the site, EduBoard does say that it takes a 20% commission of everything you earn as its compensation for matching you with students.

Tutors usually use the Whiteboard system to provide help to students, so you’ll need to make sure your computer can handle the technical requirements for that, including having a high-speed internet connection and disabled pop-up blockers.

Growing Stars

Growing Stars is a little different than other homework help and tutoring sites because it focuses heavily on the tutor-student relationship.

Once a student spends at least an hour learning from a tutor, Growing Stars tries to match the student with that tutor for all future sessions in that subject.

That’s great news for you as a tutor because you’ll have the opportunity to pick up a steady stream of students as clients who need your help, making it a bit more reliable for income.

However, it could also make your schedule a bit less flexible because you may feel like you need to be more available to meet the needs of your students.

There are several subject areas to choose from, including standardized test preparation, graphic design, and chemistry.

School Solver

School Solver is an online marketplace for tutors and students to connect.

The interesting thing about this site is that it caters to students who can’t afford to pay much but still need some help.

They can offer whatever they can afford to get their questions answered, so you may see a lot of low-paying questions here.

But if they only take a couple of minutes to answer, then they still could be worth your time.

Most people pay at least $1 for your help, and there are a lot of questions available to choose from at any time.

Some questions are $10, $30, or even $100, but you’ll need to weigh if the time it takes to help the student is worth how much they’re offering as compensation.

You can withdraw money from your balance straight to your PayPal account.

HelpWithAssignment

HelpWithAssignment has both assignment completion and homework help tasks available, so be careful choosing what assignments you want to work on.

Some of them will likely be for paper writing or doing a full assignment for a student, so if that’s not something you want to dabble in, then stick to just homework help questions or online tutoring on the site.

The service is available to both students and tutors 24/7, so you can log in and pick up work when you have time to spare.

Tutoring sessions can be 30, 45, or 60 minutes long.

There’s not a specific page that I can find to sign up with this site, so you may need to contact the company using the email address.

Getting Paid to Help Students with Homework Online

If helping students expand their education sounds like an idea side gig for you, then becoming a homework helper is just the gig you need.

It’s flexible, pays decently, and gives you the satisfaction of making an impact on students and their education.

I’d love to hear from you if you’ve personally tried any of the above sites I’ve listed or other similar ones that aren’t listed.
