If so, you are not alone. I feel your pain. Sneakers currently cost too much money to be replacing every few months.

That’s what sparked me to investigate how you can save on sneakers.

This is actually a very interesting topic to say the least. You are going to test shoes for free.

Say what?!

Yes, there are companies out there such as Nike that will pay you to test out their shoes for FREE! No cost to you. All you must do is leave your honest review on the products.

What Is Shoe Tester Jobs?

There are many sneaker companies that send out samples of their products to a select group of consumers to get feedback.

This feedback is vital to the company. This allows the company to know where they can improve on and what customers didn’t and did like about the product at hand.

As a shoe tester, you will need to sign up for one of the many companies we will list below.

You will have to get approved for the program, before they will send you the product in question. Most of the time, you may need to send the product back after a certain time. This allows them to review these products in the lab to see where the shoe was wearing in that certain time frame.

Typically, you will be wearing the sneakers for a few weeks to really test them out.

I do want to note that NOT all companies will require you to send back the sneakers. There are a handful of companies that will allow you to keep the sneakers after the testing phase is over.

What Type of Sneakers Will I be Testing?

Of course, you are hoping to score some designer shoes, right? Well, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you will only be sporting some free athletic shoes, such as Nike.

Besides, it’s more economical to see if running shoes will last a good portion rather than fashionable sitting shoes anyway!

You will want to fit in an athletic demographic to be considered for testing.

How to Get Free Shoes with These Companies?

We’ve scoured the internet to find you the companies that will send you the free sneakers.

1. Nike

Yup, our beloved Nike is the first company on this list.

How cool is that?

Nike has two different testing programs for their free Nike Samples.

  • Remote
  • On-Site

If you reside near a testing facility that Nike owns, you will be an on-site tester. They have facilities throughout the United States.

But, if you don’t live in an area where there’s a Nike testing facility, you will be sent a pair of sneakers to test out in the comfort of your own home.

2. ASICS Roadtester

ASICS is the largest athletic shoes manufacturers. They have a shoe testing program known as the ASICS Roadtester.

However, as of writing this article, they do not have any shoe testing programs in the United States.

But, if you are reading from the United Kingdom or New Zealand, they have shoe testing programs there.

3. Brooks Wear Test Program

If you are a lover of the Brooks athletic shoes, this one’s for you.

When applying to be a shoe tester for Brooks, you will hear pretty much immediately after you submit your application. You won’t have to play the waiting game, which is nice.

Brooks Wear Test Program sometimes want you to send back the shoes and other times they let you keep them.

4. Mizuno Wear Tester

If you are NOT an avid runner, I am going to say it’s best to pass this one up. Mizuno Wear Tester wants runners. In your application, they will ask many questions about your running.

5. New Balance Wear Test Program

If you love New Balance, you may love testing out their new shoes.

However, I do have to say that you will ALWAYS have to return your test shoes to them, so you may want to think of this more like “rental shoes”.

Keep in mind that they pay for shipping, so you don’t have to pay a dime to send them back.

6. Reebok

If you are a daily athlete, you will want to get in with Reebok. They are only looking for daily athletes, so if this doesn’t fit you, you shouldn’t waste your time applying.

7. Under Armour’s Wear Testing

Many people don’t know that Under Armour also makes sneakers. When you say Under Armour people think of their shorts and their t-shirts, but not their shoes.

They also have a shoe testing program. As a bonus, they do have product testing for their clothing also.

8. Red Wing Shoes

With Red Wing Shoes, you will be testing out their work boots, so if you use their work boots, this is something for you.

You will need to reside in 60-miles of their manufacturing plants. Their plants are in San Jose, California and Red Wing, Minnesota.

9. Saucony

Saucony application seems to be geared more towards runners, but they do ask if you are involved in various other sports including studio classes, walking, aerobics and the like.

If you reside in the Boston area, you do have a good chance to test the product on-site in their testing facility.

10. Columbia

Columbia is not just another apparel company like many people think. They also have sneakers as well.

However, they do actively seek out both footwear and apparel testers. It’s something to certainly investigate.

Final Thoughts

If you are like me and you need new shoes, or you just love trying out new products, shoe testing is for you!

Keep in mind, that you may not be accepted to every one of these programs either. These companies tend to look for certain demographics and you may not always fit. When you do, you may either get a free pair of shoes or you may get to at least try out a new pair of shoes for a few weeks.
