Although I didn’t find my calling in transcription, there is a real market for people that can listen well while typing fast!

There have been reports that unknown people are impersonating AccuTran Global. So, it is important to only go through their website when applying to work.
In order to work for AccuTran Global, you must download their word document and read their requirements before applying.
You will be required to type 70 words per minute. Pay for entry-level transcriptionists is .004 to .005 cents per audio word.
#3 1-888-Type It Up
When you work for Type it up, they know how important it is to be paid for your time. You can make $30-$180 per audio hour depending on your qualifications.
To work for Type it up, you will need the following:
- A computer (You may use a Mac or PC.)
- Express Scribe (free version)
- A Google account
- Google Calendar (used for submitting your availability)
- High-speed Internet
- Microsoft Office –If you don’t have it, Type it Up will pay for it.
- Skype – Skype is used for instant messaging
You will have to join Appen in order to work for Appenscribe. Appen offers more than just transcription jobs, but they can be a little challenging to get into.
Transcriptionists with Appen make up to 35k per year. So, this is a great stepping stone to starting your career at home.
What I love about Babbletype is that they pay via Paypal weekly. So, you are paid every Thursday for work you have completed.
You can work your own schedule and do only what you want. Babbletype is looking for:

#6 Birch Creek Communications
If you work with Birch Creek Communications, you get paid per audio minute. You can make anywhere from $.40-$1.75 per audio minute.
You pay, however, is dependent on the quality of your work and turnaround time. You will get the higher pay if you have 99% accuracy consistently.
With Birch Creek Communications, you can work when you want with flexible scheduling.
In order to apply for CastingWords, you must register to get into their platform. Once you register, you may take jobs as you have time.
Remember, quality over quantity is preferred.

Rev Captions is another video captioning platform. You could be transcribing videos for Disney, Sony, Buzzfeed, and so many more great companies.
With Rev, you make .45 cents to .75 cents per video minute. The better your accuracy, the higher you get paid. The average monthly earnings is $240.

#14 Caption Max
You have to look around to find remote positions for Caption Max. They don’t always need help, but when they do, they require you to have 1-2 years writing experience (not caption).
You must have a high degree of proficiency in shorthand skills, excellent, grammar, comprehension, and spelling skills.
Unlike other companies, this is more of a full-time position.
Although Ubiqus would prefer experience in some area of writing, editing, proofreading, or transcription, they will take beginning transcriptionists into consideration.
Pay is not discussed in the application process, but you will be paid per audio minute which is the norm for transcription work.
Althreon has been in business since 1988. They claim to provide transcriptionists a steady workflow making it a good egg to put in your basket.
As a transcriptionist for Athreon, you can work whenever is convenient for you so long as you meet your deadlines. All work is deadline driven. Pay is incentive based.
You will create a new account with TranscribeMe to get started. Once you complete the registration, you will need to complete an exam and training course.
You will transcribe short 2-3 minute clips whenever and wherever you want. You can get $15 per audio hour you complete. So, the faster you type, the better.
Tigerfish requires a sample transcription to be completed and sent in the correct format via email in order to be considered for a position. No experience is required; just a simple test.
Scribie is one of my personal favorites. It is super easy to get started and one of the best companies when beginning your transcription career.
Some of the clips can be a little challenging to understand, but they are short. Your responsibilities for Scribie include:
- Transcribing audio files into text
- Reviewing audio transcripts for accuracy
- Verifying that the transcript matches the audio
- Interpreting spoken audio and identifying mistakes
- Correctly identifying each speaker in the audio and labeling them
- Using correct spelling, punctuation, grammar
#20 Verbal Ink
It is important to keep in mind, that your application will not be considered without a cover letter. So, be sure to send your best!
Quicktate is another transcription platform that is great for beginners. You will transcribe VM, memos, letters, legal files, medical files, and recordings.
With Quicktate, you will be required to take a quiz as well as pay for a background check ($20) to ensure you are a good candidate for Quicktate.
#22 GMR Transcription
There are transcription positions with GMR Transcription from time to time. However, they do not always have positions available.
It is important to check GMR transcription for open positions. On their FAQ page, it says they are always looking for transcriptionists, so sending an email wouldn’t be a bad idea either.
#23 Daily Transcription
What is great about Daily Transcription is the ability to apply for different types of transcription positions. You can do general transcription, be a subtitle captioner, or a bilingual transcriptionist.
Pay is .75 cents to .85 cents per audio minute. Transcriptionists are making $250-$950 per week depending on speed and accuracy.
Daily Transcription also provides training, so it is perfect for newbies just getting started as a work from home transcriptionist.
#24 RNK Transcription
Be sure that you have the latest version of Adobe installed before visiting the RNK Transcription site as you won’t be able to view it otherwise.
In order to apply for RNK Transcription, you will need to email your Resume’ as an attachment, not an inline text. Experience is not necessary, but does give you an edge up.
Top monthly earnings at GoTranscript is $1215! It may not be a full-time income, but it is a great way to supplement income into your household.
GoTranscript also offers a $10 sign on bonus just for signing up. You make a straight .60 cents per audio minute that you transcribe.
Not only will you get a steady stream of work, but transcriptionists choose their own work and receive great support.
#26 Hollywood Transcriptions
Hollywood Transcriptions does require you to be able to type 65 words per minute with 99% accuracy. You will need professional transcription equipment once hired.
All you need to do for SpeechPad is simply fill out their application form. Someone will be in contact with you within 48 hours!

As an entry-level transcriptionist for SpeechPad, pay is .25 cents per audio minute, but can be as high as $1 per audio minute depending on your quality of work.
